### Kevin Abel
Democratic nominee · tech entrepreneur; former State Transportation Board chair

Kevin Abel came to the United States from South Africa as a teenager and, with his wife, Cindy, co-founded the technology consulting firm Abel Solutions. He served four years on the Georgia State Transportation Board, including a stint as chairman; has served on the boards of the Atlanta chamber of commerce and the Davis Academy; is vice chair of the refugee-resettlement nonprofit New American Pathways; was appointed by President Biden to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council; and chairs the American Jewish Committee's antisemitism task force. He ran for Congress in 2018. Describing himself as a “moderate Democrat,” he won the June 16 runoff with 51%, beating Nathalie Kanani by 147 of 8,487 votes.
