Adrienne White Carden
Adrienne White Carden, a Duluth Democrat, represents Senate District 7 — Berkeley Lake, Duluth and parts of Lawrenceville, Peachtree Corners, Norcross and Suwanee — for the remainder of the term. A certified public accountant with bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Virginia, she began in external audit at Ernst & Young, held finance roles at the Coca-Cola Company and Citizens Trust Bank, and is a senior vice president and relationship manager at SouthState Bank. She chairs the board of Hands On Atlanta and previously served as the Democratic Party of Georgia's vice chair of candidate recruitment. She won the June 16, 2026 special-election runoff over Republican Aizaz Shaikh after Sen. Nabilah Islam Parkes resigned to run for lieutenant governor, was sworn in June 26, and pledged not to seek a full term. Her husband, Kirkland Carden, is a Gwinnett County commissioner.
