Farooq Mughal
Democratic nominee · former state representative; government-affairs firm founderFarooq Mughal, a 21-year district resident whose parents immigrated from Pakistan to Lawrenceville, became the first Pakistani American elected to the Georgia legislature when he won this seat in 2022. He studied at Mercer University, founded the government-affairs firm MS Global Partners, and served on the Special Rules, Judiciary (Non-Civil) and State Planning & Community Affairs committees; he also chaired the Gwinnett County Community Outreach Board. After redistricting added more conservative voters, he lost re-election in 2024 to Donatucci by about 80 votes.
